About us
The story behind Daysaver
Hi, we're Daniel and Peter - and we're Daysaver. We are bike addicts doing it all. Beyond this passion we are outdoor enthusiasts in general and connected by a long-standing friendship.
We know from our own experience that bad equipment can ruin your day on the ride. That's why Daysaver stands for Swiss engineering expertise to develop lightweight and modular workshop-quality tools to get you there and back.
#DAYSAVED
Like many good things, Daysaver started over a beer
It has always bothered us that we bikers must choose between having either a useful but heavy and bulky tool or a small and light one - as we want it to be - but inconvenient to use. The common concepts are mostly based on foldable tools. The disadvantage of such concepts is that many screws are not accessible because of the bulky design, and you do not have the right lever when it comes to applying the proper torque. Other tool concepts may pursue interesting approaches, but they fall short in terms of quality and, above all, usability. So we either had to accept the situation or tackle the problem ourselves.
An idea became reality
We scraped together our savings to pay for the steps in developing the first Daysaver tool, the Original9 that started it all, out of our pocket. Together with PB Swiss Tools, we have completed the prototype phase. Then we were ready for the next phase and started our Kickstarter campaign in order to take the second important step in tool development: bringing the tool from the prototype to series production. We were overwhelmed with the success of our campaign. After only three days, we achieved our funding goal. At the end of our 30 days campaign, we convinced 1220 backers and funded more than CHF 120'000.–. We will always be thankful for the trust and support we experienced. The journey had begun.
From a side project to a real business
After just over a year and the successful launch of another product, now known as Coworking5, we were thrilled with the success of Daysaver - but at the same time, we had to make a fundamental decision.
All of a sudden, we had a warehouse and a tax lawyer in Germany, had to deal with the countless challenges of global D2C sales, manage the supply chain and provide customer support. It was far too much work for a side project, and at the same time clearly too much success to just give up on - we had obviously hit a nerve in the market.
So our decision was obvious and totally in character: let's try to do it professionally and properly, or let's drop it. We spent the whole 2022 working with our coach at the Runway incubator to develop everything we needed for fundraising from scratch: business plan, pitch deck, valuation report and whatnot. It was hard work, still alongside our everyday duties, but it was worth it. At the end of 2022, we were able to close our first round of financing and put everything on the line for Daysaver.
Since 2023, Daysaver is no longer a side project, but a company to which we devote all our energy and brainpower. The result is what is designed to save your day on every adventure.
Learning from our community - the origin of the Daysaver concept of modularity
If you ask 100 cyclists what tools they use and how they like to carry them on their rides, you'll get 110 answers.
Because we can't help but think in a user-centred way to develop solutions, we talked to our community. And to riders who had never heard of Daysaver. We listened. And we got answers.
We have translated them into a range of products that come with you on your adventures. Tools with different purposes and functions that can be combined, but of course also do the job on their own. Carrying options that allow you to choose whether you prefer to carry your tool kit on you, on your bike or in your bike.
Everything designed and engineered so that you can freely combine exactly what you need for your next adventure. To make sure you have what you need to save the day when the time comes. No more. But also no less.
Our mission: Workshop quality to go
We believe that every rider deserves the confidence of carrying real tools - tools that feel and function like the ones in your workshop, even when you're far from it.
Our mission is to deliver uncompromising, workshop-level performance in a form factor made for the outdoors: compact, lightweight and ready for every adventure. When a ride takes an unexpected turn, there's no room for flimsy improvisations. You need equipment you can trust - precision-engineered, intuitive to use, and strong enough for real repairs.
That's why our solutions are designed to deliver the same reliability, control and quality you expect in your workshop. Tools that don't just get you home, but let you fix things properly. Tools that feel right in your hand when it matters. Tools that save the day. This is what we mean by workshop quality to go.
Our promise, our vision
The core of Daysaver is our problem solving expertise to enable not only ultimate bike, but outdoor experiences in general and save people's days.
We want you to be prepared and to immerse yourself entirely in your outdoor adventure.
Every day, we draw inspiration from this vision to continually develop new and remastered tools for you that can be adapted to any type of adventure and whose quality you can trust 100%.
#DAYSAVED for biking and beyond.
